Description

On 3 Performance is proud to announce the release of the 2002 – 2006 Chevy / GMC 1500 & 2500 4.8, 5.3, 6.0l single turbo system. This kit has been in development since early 2013 and is now on the shelf, ready to ship. Our turbo system is a bolt on design that has a very clean and simple install. Now that we have been shipping for quite some time, we have gotten a lot of great feedback from customers. One of our favorite quotes from a customer was when they stated, This thing makes so much torque my truck would pull my camper straight up a tree. Once the turbo system is installed and setup, the drivability doesnt even change. We have daily driven our shop truck for the past year to prove this. If anything it actually improves as the turbo is very responsive and the 70mm is quick to make boost. So with lightly accelerating, you will find yourself not pressing the gas pedal as hard with the better throttle response. This is also due to the new found power your truck will be making mid-range as well

We designed the kit to use the stock driverside manifold. From there we made a crossover which is included in the kit ( will clear 4×4 parts and transfer case ) to bring us to the passenger side which is where we located the turbo. Each of the kits come standard with the On 3 Performance 70mm turbocharger and we have options to go anywhere from the 70mm to our newest 78mm.

We have a completely custom turbo manifold unlike any others currently on the market which is completely divided from bank to bank. Its not the typical log manifold that most make and run the driver side bank into. We have both banks completely separated up to the turbo flange which makes for a very cool looking and functional header. With the truck engine bay being so open, we a good amount of room to work with for the wastegate as well. So we have great positioning right at the t4 flange to keep good control over the boost. Included with each turbo system is the On 3 Performance 44mm v-banded wastegate which is loaded with a 6-7psi spring.

To expel all the exhaust from the turbo, we designed a 3 to 3.5 stepped downpipe from 304 stainless steel. This is all constructed from thick, almost 3mm wall tubing which has been proven to stand up to the abuse.

The complete cold side of our turbo system is designed using 3, all aluminum tubing to help dissipate heat, keep the iats as cool as possible and reduce weight. All the tubing is bead rolled to keep the couplers tight when in boost and prevent popping couplers. Not only that, we included stainless t-bolt clamps which provide more clamping power than your traditional worm clamps some use. All of our custom On 3 Performance couplers are 5 ply and come standard as well with each kit. Lastly, our intercooler is the same proven unit we have used for over 5 years with the other turbo systems we make. Included is the 3 core unit which is good up to around 800hp and you can always upgrade to our 4 core if you do plan on pushing the truck to the limits.

New as of 2017:  We now have a 2nd Gen manifold that we created to be more durable through the abuse these trucks see.  This is a very unique manifold design to start with and as you can see we opened an investment mould.  The main runner area is a 3mm thick seamless stainless casting to be as strong as possible.  Highly Recommended Upgrade:

WHAT DO I NEED TO FINISH OFF THE BUILD QUESTION:   This question is asked daily, please read through and understand what you are doing and what your goal is.  Your truck most likely isn’t going crack 250rwhp.  With our turbo system, you mostly likely going to increase power 80-100% minimum in most cases.  Most trucks we put together will make 450-600+ depending on supporting mods and fuel.  This is a typical build that we see and this would be the items used in a 500rwhp build.  In order to support those numbers, here is a list of what we recommend adding to your purchase.  This is a recommendation to eliminate the emails asking what else is needed.  After you finish your install, all truck need a tune:

Fueling Questions:  Please read, we get endless messages on what needs upgraded to support the power.  NO the stock FUEL PUMP OR INJECTORS are going to support your newly turbocharged truck.  Most trucks bone stock end up making 400rwhp or more at 6-7psi depending on the combo with a 70mm On 3 turbo that comes with the kit.  That is about a 57% increase in power and GM did not engineer your truck to be making those numbers on the stock fuel system.  The engine platform is strong and you can normally run it up to 600rwhp or more with the correct fuel upgrades and tuning.  Our shop truck is a daily driven vehicle and makes 625/675 and the engine is bone stock from pan to intake manifold.  If you plan to boost your truck, you need to do the fuel system properly so you don’t end up costing yourself more down the road by blowing up your vehicle.  On any build we do, we run the dual pump assembly and the return fuel line upgrade.  This is going to support 900-1000hp depending on fuel being used and several other variables. Its perfect from a basic 400rwhp combo to a purpose built race truck making serious power.  Please review the following 2 items and seriously consider them when making your purchase for a hassle free, proven product to handle your fuel supply needs:

Need Help Choosing The Proper Turbo?

If you do not know what you are doing with turbo sizing, please call in for advice. We do not want to see you ruin your turbo from lack of proper understanding about motor cubic inch size and turbo exhaust wheel sizing. We most commonly see this when our customers try to put a 65 exhaust wheel on a 6.0 or larger motor. The rule of thumb is the larger the motor, the larger the exhaust wheel you are going to need. If you put too small of a turbo on too large of a motor, the turbo will fail due to this. Again, if you have questions, please call. We can’t possibly know what your project/swap is if you order the kit off of the website without reaching out to us first. Generally, a 70/65 or 76/65 turbo will be just fine for a fairly stock 4.8L or a 5.3L motor, but not ok when you step up into a 6.0. The 6.0L and 6.2L motors should have a 78/75 or larger turbo, depending on the build. Understand that the 76/75 BMF is fine as well, and will actually generate more power than the 78/75. If you are building a 408 or larger, we recommend going with an 88/84mm turbo or a T6, depending on what you are trying to accomplish.

  1. clint

I have a 2008 gmc sierra denali awd with the 6.2 motor..would this kit work for me or do u have a kit available that is for my truck? Thanks..

    • admin

We have a specific 2007 – 2013 1500 / 2500 turbo system now which you can also find on our website under ” Turbo Systems “

  2. Ramiro Beltran

I’m interested in this kit for my 2000 silverado 5.3. The motor it’s going on is cammed with headers. I know it’s a complete kit but out of the optional selection of parts, what else am I needing to go along with the kit?

    • admin

Pretty much the entire list is built from parts that we use pretty much standard on our own installs here. So really most of it will be recommended unless you already have something on the list covered on your end already. I always suggest the 76mm turbo and you will want our injector/fuel pump package without a doubt. The driver side header upgrade is a nice touch and will outflow the factory manifold that is generally utilized unless you upgrade

  3. Richard (verified owner)

With a 70mm turbo will I need to upgrade the injectors and fuel pump? I have a 06 GMC Sierra with the 5.3.

    • admin

Without a doubt when your almost doubling or in most cases doubling or more the factory HP, you need pump and injectors. It should be upgraded no matter how much boost you are running as the fuel delivery is one of the most important aspects to keeping your truck reliable and running properly. No reason to chance leaning it out and costing you an engine

  4. David Golliher (verified owner)

I meant to get the LH header with the kit can I order it now. I can’t find it by itself on the website.

    • admin

If you just need the Dr. side header upgrade by itself, just give us a call or email us. We can certainly get you taken care of and we have them stocked, ready to ship!

  5. Chuck Coleman

I have a 03 2500HD with the 6.0L it has 200k miles would I have to rebuild my engine to run this kit?

    • admin

Our test truck we build the kit around didn’t see a pound of boost till about 220k miles

  6. Nate

Will this kit fit the 4×4 1500 or only the 2 wheel drive?

    • admin

It will work with either 2wd or 4wd

  7. Eusebio

will this kit only work with electric fans or can i modify the aluminum piping to work with my stock fan clutch driven?

    • admin

No clutch fans, we don’t believe in those things around here

  8. luis

how much horsepower can I expect with a stock motor with this turbo kit installed

    • admin

I make right at 610/675 on 13psi with our shop test truck, bone stock long block 5.3 on e85

  9. Nash

    Will it fit the 6.0l in a 2003 1500hd 4wd?

    • admin

      Yes

  10. Kasey B.

I installed this kit on my ’06 Vmaxx last spring. So far I’ve got close to 5500 miles on it and it’s performed great! Dyno’d 503HP at the wheels! Great product, excited to see the new stuff ON3 is coming out with!

    • admin

Thats great to hear, thanks for following up and posting your results!

  11. Ryan

I read the page twice and didnt see an answer so hopfully i didnt miss it but will this fit the suvs

    • admin

we have customers that make it work with the SUV but the cold side and the way the intercooler mounts needs a few tweaks. Either way its a great starting point and eliminates most all of the fabrication you would need to do if you started from scratch. Check our instagram page, we have several SUV builds posted on there

  12. mike

Great kit, good power!!! 5.3 GMC Sierra bone stock 530hp spinning tires on Dyno. VERY HAPPY WITH ALL THE PEOPLE AT ON3 Especially Greg!! Thanks for all your help

I do recommend a Catch can!!

    • admin

Excellent, Im glad to hear, thanks for following up and posting your results

  13. Jeff

I know you stated you don’t like clutch fans. I have a 2002 Tahoe 2wd with a clutch fan. I would like to use your kit. Is this the right turbo setup for my Tahoe?

    • admin

I have guys that run the kits on the suv applications however I personally have not done the install. Most guys have just commented they made their own intercooler mounting brackets as that was required. They have them on the trucks so I know it will work. Just wish I personally had hands on experience with those specific applications so I could be more detailed for you

  14. Alex

Will this kit fit on a 4.8?

    • admin

The 4.8 / 5.3 / 6.0 all have the same head flange so its all the same and works on any of those combos

  15. Justin

What size cam an injectors would I need to get with this turbo install?

    • admin

We have several options on the website you can chose from. For a fairly stock build, 55’s are all you will need

  16. Adam

Interested in possible purchase of a turbo kit for my 2000 silverado single can short bed 5.3l. My question is the WG comes stock with a 7lb spring I think. So do you offer more springs? I would like to run numbers like your shop truck. Going to build the motor for more later on down the road, but for now I just want as much as possible to just have some fun with. If possible through e-mail or whatever can we possibly discuss what all will be needed through you to make this happen? Thanks and I look forward to a purchase.

    • admin

You can either email or call us about the truck but changing the gate spring is simple. You can find different spring rates on our website and we also have boost controllers. You can adjust basically 6-20+ with spring/controller upgrades

  17. Eric

Would this kit work on a Avalanche?

    • admin

The Avalanche should be no different assuming you have a 5.3 or 6.0 engine and not the 8.4

  18. Chad

    How is the tuning done?

    • admin

      SCT or HP

  19. Josh

To install his kit I should get the dual fuel pump, fuel return and the #55 injectors for my 6.0 correct? and there is diesel shops near me that does tuning you think they will do it?

    • admin

We possibly can help you out with tuning around the first part of the year. Are you doing our turbo system and fuel upgrade? If so, the dual pump setup and return line upgrade is ideal. Thats how all of our trucks here are setup. The kit works flawless and supports easily 800+ HP

  20. Jesse Adcock

I currently have a bigger cam in the truck now that has a 112 Lobe Seperation Angle. This causes a decrease in vacuum line pressure. Will this interfere with controlling the psi using a manual controller since it runs off of the vacuum line with the wastegate. Is their any other problems I might encounter due to this cam? Thanks in advance

  21. Josh

How will you help with tuning?

  22. KyLnn

Could you give me a quote for every single thing i need for a 2004 1500 5.3? Including the pump and injector upgrade.

    • admin

You can calculate a complete kit with all your upgrades on the site. You select the upgrades and it gives you a grand total as you do so

  23. Kyle

Do you think a single 320lph pump will be adequate to fuel the basic 70mm kit on 91 oct. pump gas at <12lbs?
Also, do the coils need to be relocated to run this kit?

    • admin

That single pump will have no problem supporting up to around 550-600hp

  24. Jayden

What’s up guys I have a 1999 Silverado 5.3 with roughly 190k miles. Would I need an engine rebuild before buying this kit? Now I understand injectors will need to be upgraded should i go with #55 ? And also will there be anything else I should consider upgrading? This will be my DAily driver

    • admin

The shop truck that we designed with had 220k on it before it saw any boost. I have a recommended list on the site, read everything in RED

  25. Bradly Bomar

Could you run this set up on a 2006 5.3 with stock fuel pump and stock injectors, everything is stock I just want to install the turbo kit. Will I need anything not included in the kit?

    • admin

I never would nor would we recommend it but people do it

  26. James

    Have directions for intall?

    • admin

Yes directions come with all of our truck systems that we offer

  27. Buzz218
